Get helpful information for cancer patients from these trusted web sites

Three years ago, we noticed the needs of many local cancer patients far exceeded their financial means, insurance and resources available.  That's why Art Breakers came to be.

Our mission still remains the same:  To make sure that every cancer patient has what they need to get through cancer.  And that has many meanings.  We often take patients to chemotherapy sessions, make monetary payments to doctor’s, pay for utility bills, and anything else that is needed, including counseling with families and patients prior to surgeries.  We tell the patients and their families what to expect, a gift that is sometimes more welcome than any amount of money!  It would be correct to say that our services are needed even more today.  Cancer, it seems, rarely takes a break.

Our cancer-care community has certainly changed over the last four years since Art Breakers came to be.  Technology has moved forward, our Social Services are more focused and streamlined, the imaging centers are leaders in cancer care technology.  Our local hospital now has a very precise way to deliver radiation, the “Artiste.”  And our oncology group, First Coast Oncology, is getting a proton-beam of their own, the first outside of a hospital setting!  All heady stuff, but it’s not enough to ensure that patients and families can afford these treatments.

And that’s where we come in.  We create and develop with our community fund raisers and events that are fun and creative (we never make you walk or run, just come out and have a good time!), and always, there is art.  As we embark on the newest leg of our collective journey, Art Breakers is looking forward to working with our community, in older relationships, and many new ones!  Please join us as we work to raise money to help those in need.

Art Breakers is a 501 (c) 3 organization, structured to adhere specifically to the rigorous demands of the IRS and other "watch dog" organizations that exist to make sure, again, that your money is appropriately used.

Thank you for your support. Art Breakers wouldn't exist without you, and together we can move this mountain! Let's make sure that each individual facing cancer has what they need.

A Personal Note from Pier

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Self exams, mammograms and education should be on everyone's radar.  We remind everyone that early detection and immediate treatment improves the odds of beating this disease.

Artbreakers is seeking volunteers for our new Adopt A Patient program.  Sometimes a donation of time in the form of providing a ride to the grocery store or a doctors visit is more important than a cash donation.  Our patients sometimes are without transportation or other basic needs. Our volunteers will help these patients in ways that are simply invaluable.  Adopt a Patient by e-mailing us today.
