The needs of many local cancer patients far exceeds the financial means, insurance and resources available.  That's why Art Breakers came to be. We identified a need and then tried to make donating an easy process and even a unique and artful process. The artists that generously give to Art Breakers are paid for their work, and the rest of the money goes directly to our bank account. We then make the effort to gift directly to individuals in need. The donation process includes ensuring that the money is used in the exact way it is needed, for example, an individual needs help with paying for a mammogram. We make the check out to the facility in that person's name. We make every effort to screen and qualify individuals in a timely, though thorough, fashion.

We have created a network of doctors, the Cancer Care Resource Center at Flagler Hospital, County Health officials, and volunteers who help us determine who is eligible a and truly in need. It is unfortunate, but every once in a while there is someone who is abusing the system, whether out of desperation or another factor. It is our responsibility to make sure that YOUR money is used in the way it was intended.

Artbreakers is a 501 (c) 3 organization, structured to adhere specifically to the rigorous demands of the IRS and other "watch dog" organizations that exist to make sure, again, that your money is appropriately used.

Thank you for your support. Art Breakers wouldn't exist without you, and together we can move this mountain! Let's make sure that each individual facing cancer has what they need.

A Personal Note from Pier

I know that it has been a long time since I’ve updated this column, but there are some very good reasons that this is so!!!  Artbreakers has been working very hard in our community with many cancer patients now that the word that we are here has spread!  And the needs continue to be many.
