Artbreakers outreach in the community is two fold. First it is our goal to "be there" for every patient who is in need. This could mean financial or emotional support (see story at right for details),
Secondly, we continue to work on forming alliances with medical providers and our local hospital to help cancer patients overcome any hurdles they may encounter in the process of diagnosis and treatment.
Our goal is to help any cancer patient and their loved ones deal with needs that may not be met because of lack of insurance, or lack of monetary or personal resources.

Artbreakers endeavors to be there for the patient in need of diagnostic testing . To us, “being there” has many definitions. We reach out personally to people going through this part of the disease by chance meetings at doctor’s offices, or referrals from individuals, doctors, or people who’ve heard what it is that we do. We assess each patient’s needs, scope of insurance, lack of insurance, self-pay status and more (If you do not have insurance please look at the bottom left of this page). If an individual qualifies for Social Services, we guide them to the right office, make sure they understand what’s happening and why. We call and help negotiate “self-pay” rates from imaging centers, ask surgeons if they will accept Social Services vouchers on behalf of patients, and many more of the things that make a patient’s experience, should they have to do this themselves, a bit easier.
Secondly, Artbreakers supports The Education & Support Center at Flagler Hospital Cancer Institute. Our goal is to help fund specific needs. For example, Artbreakers with the help of donations from individuals, along with donations from Ponce Home Medical and the local Sertoma Chapter have purchased camisoles for mastectomy patients.
In these ways we can continue to help make St. John’s County a truly comprehensive cancer care community. This is a goal shared by Artbreakers and it's supporters.

Rhonda Serra
St. Augustine, FL
Look twice at Rhonda Serra's works. The first time, you'll think her
beautifully-captured landscapes and natural studies are paintings. A closer
look will show they are photographs. As a girl, Serra tagged along with her
father while he fished and shrimped the St. Johns and the Intracoastal. Now,
she says, she feels a kinship with the members of the San Sebastian River
Artists Studio at Holborn Gallery, whose works recall both those sun swept days and convey the splendor that still abounds in Northeast Florida.
